berry-licious

we went picking berries again this year.

all we could talk about was the bounty of last year- when the blackberries were huge, sweet, and juicy, and i could hardly get them to my bucket- or my mouth -fast enough (one for the bucket, one for megan- isn't that how it is supposed to go??)

it was like last year was the ex-boyfriend, not available, but still getting talked about until people are sick of hearing it.

so the harvest this year was a little less than huge, sweet, and juicy, but provided amply for some blackberry treats around here much the same.

blackberry cobbler, blackberries with cake and ice cream (if you are bobby, this is all mashed up in a cup together...), blackberry milkshakes, blackberry syrup with waffles, and finally this morning- blackberry jam.

i wish i had taken a picture of the mess i can make in my kitchen while making jam. at least it was a yummy mess.

how to build a fort for a three month old...

never fear, the husband will always find a way to entertain himself and the bebe.anything and everything can become a construction project around here.
he is just a tad proud of his fine work (the toys and his bebe boy)

and i just can't get enough of both of my men.

back to life, back to reality...

the sweet bliss of summer is coming to a close. i really don't want to let it go. there is something amazing to be said for 3 paid months of work... especially when hanging out with your best friend and a pretty cute kid are involved...

tomorrow i'm back at work and bobby is back at school. really i went back to work last monday, but it didn't feel too real because the husband was at home, so that is where my heart and mind were too.

so bring on the craziness of juggling school, working, and the bebe. we'll be trading shifts with the little man, and i just hope that in it all there will be pockets of time i will get to share with both of them at the same time. that is a bit of my version of heaven.

today we played and played. and i tried to eat up every minute of it.

apparently evan isn't into the whole family picture gig.

this is us trying to play catch in the backyard. substituting a tennis ball for the baseball. partly because the pup chewed it up and partly because us hitting the bebe in the head with a baseball might be part of my worst nightmare. it is a skill that can use a little more practice!

bobby really likes introducing new toys to the bebe.

i'm sure it was only a matter of time before he discovered my hair anyway- thanks for hurrying up the process. hope it tasted as good as my shampoo smells...

i'm so glad when daddy comes home

the husband returned home early-like dark thirty early- this morning from his trip to ohio.

i have to say that i have a new found appreciation for 2 populations: single parents, and those with limited to no use of at least one arm. more power to you!

my to-do list was pretty compromised. i'm learning a whole new definition for realistic expectations from my day. but i think we (speaking of mama and bebe here- the husband's feelings don't really count given that he spent a weekend at the races and can call it work!!) came out unscathed this time- and we are both still happy to boot! (truth be told i did cry once- but only once- and those of you who know me know that is pretty dang good!)

now maybe i'll get the husband to tell y'all some stories from the o-hi-o. well maybe after finals....
