we are family

 sunday afternoon.  we took advantage of taking photos in our backyard while the leaves were gorgeous. (by meesh)

this one tells the real story.  i love me that bebe boy!

proud mama moment

though evan was sleepy face and walking around with his blanket smothering his face, he apparently wasn't ready for his nap yet.

20 minutes in the crib brought about a lot of chitter-chatter and a throwing of everything in sight, out of the crib.  when he was no longer appeased in the crib, and i went to get him, he just started giggling.

i decided that this was the perfect time to run my errands.  about 20 minutes into it, it was apparent we were revisiting the need for nap time.

this is where the mama desperation set in.  you see, falling asleep in the car would result in not transferring to the crib, and a very tired, somewhat miserable afternoon -for both of us-

and this is why any good mama needs to have emergency snacks in her purse- but i didn't.

so then i looked around for what would keep him awake for the 10 minute drive home.


krispy kreme. the drive through was right there...


done.  i went through the drive through and bought a dough--nut.  for the boy who i hardly ever feed junk to.

i then proceed to toss bits of doughnuts into the backseat at the bebe boy hoping to keep him awake.

a few minutes later i look in the rear view mirror and see a boy, with his eyes closed, still doing the hand-to-mouth motion.  poor tired thing.  then the motion slows and he is drooping, eyes closed and wad of doughnut in the fist.

i tried to sing every song i know and make it the last 3 minutes home.

when we pull into the driveway, and i go to retrieve the bebe boy, i find a glaze and crumb covered sleeping boy.

wish i had a picture of that.

that was a proud moment as a mama.  the insanity i attempted resulted in a 20 minute nap.  better than nothing.

bebe brother!

couldn't be more happy to say that the little munchin fluttering inside me is a bebe brother!

full disclosure: the husband and i were watching the munchin on the monitor at the doctor's office, hoping to hear that everything looked healthy and find out what awaited our family next. we saw immediately that we were going to have a bebe brother.  (he wasn't shy).  we grabbed hands excitedly.  there is nothing that makes me more excited about this that imagining my bebe playing with his bebe brother!

sunday afternoons: take two

our little bebe man loves animals.  he has no fear or inhibition at all. i think this is a great thing, yet a bit nerve-racking at the same time.

we took him to a friends alpaca farm.  i knew he'd love it, but he really loved it.

we spent sunday afternoon chill'axin on a grassy little corner of byu.

 

 the husband and evan forts with pine needs.  well, the husband built and bebe kept asking for the pine needles and saying thank you in his stellar signing skills.

 

 

evan even got a chance to practice his fancy new walking skills...

pears

i helped myself while mama was picking the pears off our tree...

taxidermy

i'll be honest.  taxidermy has always pretty much creeped me out.  i never really understood going to a museum to look at dead animals.

however, this bebe man has suddenly opened my eyes to the beauty.  he loves animals, and was thrilled to check them all out. only problem is trying to get him not to want to climb on the animals like he does the pup.

farmer's market

 

nothing like enjoying some of the locals goods from the farmer's market down the street!

ski lifts

 

 we headed up the canyon to ride the lifts up at sundance.  it was gorgeous.  we missed most of the wildflowers (i always seem to miss the wildflowers!)

although holding a wiggly bebe/toddler on a ski lift is beyond nerve racking. it slightly distracted from the view! he was way to interested in exploring that lift, and i wanted him securely sitting between on one of our laps.

 

new toy

check out my spoon.  it is the newest cool thing.  i won't let it out of my sight.  it comes with me to the bath, goes to bed with me, keeps me occupied through costco.  i pretty much love it.

first harvest

this is the first harvest from our tomato plants out back. hopefully the first of many!

15 weeks

bonneville

after a long drive home, we stopped at the salt flats for speed week.  we went to watch byu's electric vehicle, but weren't able to catch one of their races.

you are right little buddy.  it is really bright out there...

oregon: picking berries

 

 

 picking blackberries along the river. and eating a fair share too.

 letting this little man explore the wild outdoors.  and trying to keep him out of the prickly berries.

we spent a very windy day on the cape, flying kites.  it was gorgeous.  literally sitting on beds of wild strawberries. 

i attempted to get photos of the kites, but alas, ended up more of this little guy!

loving exploring all of the cousin's toys.  especially playing them with dad.

 we took little man down to the beach to test out the water.  i wasn't sure how he would react. turns out it was nothing but love.  he would erupt into giggles when the freezing cold water would creep up onto him.  okay the speed of the water was way more than a creep and would take my breath away when it hit me. 

  

priceless.

 

and when the water was gone, he was perfectly happy in the land of rocks.
