Its my birthday and I'll party if I want to!

You would party too if it happened to you!

I realize that I may just be returning to the fantasy life of an 8 year old, but I love it. So this year I went full out on the birthday party of my dreams (i dream big, okay?!)

First Stop: Power Tumbling- trampolines, giant foam pits, human hamster wheel- How can that not be a good time!

Apparently Bobby's best side in all his flipping photos would be his back side!

Meesh, Kat and I enjoying a little roll...

And the foam pit...

I feel like Teeter-totters still just invoke fear in my heart, only justified when Bobby bailed on me on our turn... I know that was hilarious when we were six, but is that really still funny? Apparently! I think maybe Scottie was a little nicer to Marcelle!

Always trying to go bigger and better- Emily and Brian decided to try to get ON TOP of the human hamster wheel, rather than a measly ride in it.

If you look closely at this photo, you may notice that Emily's first attempt was not all that successful. She may not be high enough, but dang, check out that form! She must be a dancer! (we won't display the outcome photo of this attempt!)

That's a little more like it!

And again the amazing acrobatics of Brian and Emily. Too bad the loop wasn't a ring of fire!!

Who knew that Bobby and I are apparently Kung Fu Fighters?

Cinco de Mayo & the Birthday Continues

For Family Home Evening on Cinco De Mayo, Bobby decided that the activity was going to be making a Pinata. I have to give him some major credit for that one!

We made a pretty giant mess with the newspaper, flour and water combo, but the final result turned out pretty good for our first try
(if we do say so ourself...)

Apparently we feel pretty affectionate toward our finished product

So here he is in all his glory, just waiting to be obliterated at the birthday party

The remnants...

Meesh's stash of the Goods...
We filled the Pinata with Fruit Snacks!
***Edit- the picture of Meesh shoving the fruit snacks down her shirt was removed.
Bobby said it was too questionable!***

the sniffles...

A cold is such a misleading name. Most of the time, when I hear "a cold" I associate it with minor ailments and usually accompany it with thoughts of "suck it up, you just have a little cough or runny nose."

I think it is because of my bratty little judgements like this- that I get blasted with a doozie of "a cold." It has been going on for over a week now- and every morning, with all my stubbornness, I wake up and think- whatever it is just a cold- and go to work anyway. Then by the end of the day, I end up wondering how "a cold" can kick my trash so much and all I want to do it curl up and sleep for days. However, various aspects of "the cold" then keep me from the sleep I crave.

I'll spare you the rest of the unappealing details of the cold--

But yesterday, while I have finally begun the recovery path, I discovered that as bad as being sick is, it is worse to have your husband be sick! Yesterday Bobby came home from studying with a fever and a case of the sniffles. I immediately wished the cold back on me if only I could somehow take it away from him. I wish that I could make it better- and I hate seeing problems that I can't do anything about. With finals starting TOMORROW and us going on vacation next week- I wish this little cold of ours would just GO AWAY!

Stunted Spring

At Christmas, my dear friend Meesh gave me this pot that she had made and a hyacinth bulb to grow in it.

I was so excited, thinking that this would bring a little Spring into what can sometimes be a long winter in Utah.

So what you see here is the results of my attempt to force the bulb. It was planted shortly after Christmas and shot up about 1-2 inches, and then has stayed there, or grown only slightly more in the 3 months since.. I moved it near the window and have continued to faithfully water it- hoping for a revival in its growth. Then recently I noticed the leaves pushing out, and then to my surprise, though less a third its normal size, it is bringing me its beautiful blossoms anyway!

I feel like this little bulb is somewhat like the Spring that we are having- it may be struggling a little (as in still waking up to SNOW!) but I know it is beautiful in there somewhere!
