I got up this morning and decided to try something new with my hair, or at least something that I haven't done in quite a while... (as opposed to not doing my hair at all, which happens quite frequently!)
So off I go with pig tail french braids, and the ends tied under about shoulder length, and seek a little validation from the husband (you know- haven't tried this with the bangs, and I want to make sure it looks all right)
This is the part that I apparently forgot that living with a boy is distinctly different than living with your girl roommates, who also pretty much double as a full length mirror because they are so good at the feedback/validation thing...
Bobby's response:
"Looks good. Looks well-maintained" I with you could hear how the phrase well-maintained was kinda slowed down and drawn out.
His explanation went something like this- that I had managed to reign in all the hair into a very neat and tidy hair-do.
Well- maintained? I officially now feel like an equal to the interior of a car... well maintained. .... Boys!

PS I just came into work and a co-worker (female) took a quick glance and said, "hey your hair looks cute like that."

LOL...yeah, on many an occasion I've resorted to asking Geoff's opinion and let me tell you that after 7 years of marriage...he's finally getting the knack for comments like "wow, that's great" "no, i like the other one better" "are you sure you really want to where that" etc...you've got to train your boy--never give up.
I am now famous as "the female co-worker." :) Yeah, as I shared with you already, my thoughts are if they don't give you a wierd look or make some negative comment, you are looking good!
That is freakin' awesome! I was laughing SO HARD :-)
That is super funny, and I know how you feel. Zak is always quick to answer with "You look good," and then looks up at me, pauses and gives me a "hmmmm, yeah maybe you shoudn't wear that."
I hate the quick "you look good" comment. I usually stare down my significant other until he gives it to me straight, good or bad. It kinda breaks my heart when it's bad, but I appreciate a REAL answer over a fake one. But I don't know if Bobby's reply was real or just boy speak for "I don't know what I'm supposed to say here..."
ahhh, love my brother! of all the things to come up with!
oh my gosh, that is so funny....boys, you gotta love them.
i knew exactly how bobby said the "well maintained" before i even read the explanation. perfectly bobby. at least it is a little better than the "well, i can tell you really like it" which is what chip throws my way . . .
That's so funny! Reminds me of the time I told Jeff I was dometicized from all my cooking/craft projects. He interpreted that as "house-trained." :)
From Chris-
I know where he's comin' from. There is something to be said of braids that are "well maintained". When there's disorder and hairs sticking out from every inch of the braid, it's not as cute. Sounds honest if nothing else.
LOL that is so funny! And sooo true! Boys are funny and definitly different than us! Yikes!
Husbands are just priceless... but not always good at objective feedback. You just can't depend on them to tell you (or even notice) that you have a big smear of black mascara on your cheek, or a leaf in your hair. You are doing good if you get a "snowing down south" warning from them. But I just chalk it up to husbandly unconditional love! :) Love ya - Mom P.
