Happy Birthday Chaser!

A year ago today, hundreds of goldfish celebrated a blessed event with us. They happily (more likely brainlessly!) adorned the tables of our wedding reception.

Today, miraculously, we have a survivor atop our fridge to remind us often of that event

(no, we did not kill off hundreds, we only came home with 3- and Chaser was appropriately named because he chased the other two around the bowl until they quickly died!- But survival of the fittest- he is going strong!)

Happy First Year Bobby.
I knew I loved you then, but I didn't know how much you would mean everything to me.

So... an add on to the goldfish story. Katrina and I were asked to watch about 6 fish for Megan and Bobby while they went on their honeymoon (I hate fish). Slowly but surely these little guys started to die. We tried to keep the water clean and by the time the two love birds came home, we were down to three. In the process of putting the fish all in one bowl, Megan and I accidently dropped one of the swimmers in the sink, down into the garbage disposal. We didn't know what to do because neither of us wanted to reach down and scoop his wiggly self up. So we turned on the water to keep him... uh, breathing. Then we noticed it was super HOT water. And then Bobby reached over and TURNED ON the garbage disposal. We were all shreiking like little girls. Poor fishy.

Sounds like Bobby was being merciful considering the hot water and long drop, way to go. Lincoln's first fish died within 24 hrs because I gave it fresh water, oh well. No animals since.
