Having my own fruit tree could be one of the greatest perks about having my own house! We spent our first family home evening in the house picking . (well I picked them off the tree and bobby picked the gross ones off the ground)
Hopefully we'll become experts at pruning and caring for it so we don't have wimpy pears next year, but for now, I'm going to enjoy have fresh fruit in my house!

Best of luck!!
wait, are you kidding me??
how fun, the pears look delicious!
We made sour cream pear pie yesterday with the pears from our tree...mmmm. I think my mom will be here this weekend and we'll make pear harlequin (pear marmelade). Love the pears!
Hey, congrats on your place. You probably don't remember me, but I think we met at your wedding. My wife Heather is your husbands cousin. Anyways, congrats again on your place and tree (I think we actually might have been kinda nieghbors-we used to live on 434 South and 800 West-I think we probably walked past your house all the time on our way to the park and that cute little farmers market), and I have some advice for your pears next year. From what I understand, if you want to have bigger non-wimpy pears, when the tree is blossoming, you need to knock some blossoms off of the tree. Sounds crazy, but what happens is that the tree throws everything it has left into the remaining fruit and ta-da-bigger fruit. Anyways, glad I found your blog, we should have dinner sometime or something.
